Body cameras should be used for transparency
Not surveillance.
Californians were promised that body cameras would be a technology that
holds police accountable and guards communities against police
misconduct. Implanting body cameras with face recognition software would
do the exact opposite of what was promised to communities across
California.
The Body Camera Accountability Act (AB 1215) is the solution to this the
issue. The bill would prevent the use of face surveillance and other
biometric surveillance tech with police body cameras or similar devices.
